How many years have you worked with children?
I've been in Child Care for 12 years and 3.5 years and serving as the Early Head Start- Child Care Partnership Director.
What brought you to work with children? Have you always wanted to or did it just happen?
Working with children has always felt like a natural calling for me. Ever since I was young, I was the “bossy” child who loved playing teacher, doctor, or boss—always organizing and leading. I’ve always been drawn to children’s curiosity, energy, and the way they view the world with such openness and wonder. While I didn’t always know I would build a career around it, I naturally gravitated toward roles that involved nurturing and supporting children, as well as the teams dedicated to laying their educational foundation. Over time, I realized that helping children grow, learn, and feel safe gives me a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that I’m playing a part—big or small—in shaping their future.
What are some of your hobbies?
My hobbies include: Traveling, playing my flute, spending time with family and friends and relaxing with my fur baby JP.
What is your most treasured accomplishment?
My most treasured accomplishment was graduating with my Masters of Science in Early Childhood Services from Arkansas State and celebrating 10 years with my community help program - Bullard Blessing Block.
What is your favorite thing about working with children?
My favorite thing about working with children—especially those in the birth to age 3 stage—is being able to witness their early developmental progress firsthand. I love watching young minds grow and having the opportunity to be part of those critical, foundational years.
What has been the most significant or memorable moment in your job?
The most significant moment in this job so far has been seeing the impact I’ve had on families and hearing their heartfelt testimonials. Often, it can feel like the work you do goes unnoticed—until someone takes the time to “give you your flowers” and acknowledge the love, care, and concern you’ve shown. Those moments are truly meaningful and reaffirm why I do this work.
Do you have any dreams or aspirations you want to share?
I aspire to turn my community program into a nonprofit organization. The Bullard Blessing Block has been serving underprivileged individuals across Arkansas since 2015. What began as a dream to honor a deceased family member—when I was just a young undergraduate student—has grown into something far beyond what I could have imagined. My goal is to expand our reach to multiple states and serve a wide range of communities.
In addition to this, I also aspire to complete my coursework to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner, further expanding the services I can offer and deepening the impact of the work I do. |
