Who inspires you professionally or personally? And why?

The cliché answer of “my mother” comes to mind first, but truly, it’s both of my parents who inspire me. I’ve watched them leave stable, corporate careers in a busy city to move our family to rural Arkansas in pursuit of a different life. Since then, I’ve witnessed their grit, grace, and grind as they became entrepreneurs. My parents are successful because they made it their mission to be present—present for their children, their business, and their community. They prioritized work-life balance long before it became a post-pandemic buzzword. They inspire me in more ways than words can fully capture, but if I had to sum it up, I’d say this: they work hard for the simple life they believe in. While success can be measured by financial gains, it’s their blend of economic success and intentional living that continues to inspire me every single day.

What are some of your hobbies?

If you get me talking about the benefits of working out, nutrition, and prioritizing your health, you might want to pull up a chair—I could go on for a while. When I’m not working or grabbing coffee with a friend, you’ll probably find me at a nearby gym or outside playing a recreational sport with friends. Every now and then, I’ll have a spontaneous “let’s try this new recipe” kind of night. And somehow, I always end up needing to add extra salt to my meals, maybe one day I’ll get the seasoning right on the first try!

What is your most treasured accomplishment?

For three summers during college, I packed my bags and moved to Florida for nine weeks at a time to participate in a leadership and discipleship program. During those weeks, I had the opportunity to mentor and lead college freshmen girls through training, activities, and personal sessions focused on what it looks like to follow Christ during their college years. I treasure those 27 weeks spent on the beach because of the life change I witnessed and experienced myself. I’m a better person because of it.

What do you do to treat yourself?

If I can be on a boat, out on the lake, with an ice-cold Poppi and a UV 9, I’m one happy girl. For a simple, everyday kind of “treat,” I wake up early each morning to enjoy a quiet, cozy moment to myself before the world gets loud at 8:00.

What is one thing you cannot do without?

Staying active. I move my body not just for physical health, but for my mental health too. We only get one body, and I consider it an honor to take care of it!

Building Healthy Habits Early!

When you're raising or teaching young children, life happens in a blur of snack times, naptimes, and last-minute potty breaks. In all that hustle, it’s easy to focus on right now. But here’s the thing, those small, everyday choices? They’re laying the groundwork for lifelong health and wellness!

And the good news? You don’t need a perfect routine or a Pinterest-worthy lunchbox to raise healthy, happy kids. What matters most is consistency, connection, and a little creativity.

Here are a few simple wellness wins to weave into your day:

1. Snack Smart: Reach for whole foods like fruit slices, cheese cubes, or whole grain crackers. Kids notice what we snack on too. Your choices help shape theirs.

2. Add Movement Moments: Think quick, fun bursts of activity: a two-minute dance break, animal walks between centers, or a "jump like a frog" transition. It boosts mood, focus, and learning.

3. Protect Sleep Time: Children need 10 to 13 hours of sleep (naps included). Create calming rhythms for rest, like a warm bath and book at night, or a short yoga flow with calm music before nap.

4. Try a Mindful Morning Start: Begin the day with a smile, a stretch, or a quiet breath together. These tiny habits build emotional resilience in kids and in you.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or administrator, remember this: the way you show up today shapes healthy habits for years to come.

Toolbelt Tuesday!

Our first Toolbelt Tuesday in July focused on one of the most important tools in early childhood education: partnering with families.

Before we talk routines or strategies, we start with relationships. When families feel seen, heard, and valued, they’re more likely to engage and children benefit most of all.

In the post, we shared 3 simple ways to build strong connections from day one:

  • Make the first contact positive

  • Send home quick, handwritten notes

  • Invite families to share what works at home
