This month's spotlight is someone who turned her love of growing things into a gift for the next generation. Meet Krystle Rucker of Rucker Farm Co. and Grow with Krys!

From Krystle:

Through my farm and educational programs, I use gardening and agriculture as tools to help children learn, grow, and connect with the world around them. I provide hands-on experiences that teach where food comes from while also encouraging curiosity, problem-solving, confidence, and healthy habits. As a mother of neurodivergent triplets, I am especially passionate about creating inclusive garden experiences that support different learning styles and abilities. My goal is to help children develop a lifelong appreciation for nature, agriculture, and community through meaningful, hands-on learning.

Who inspires you professionally or personally? And why?

My family inspires me every day both professionally and personally. Raising four children, including triplets with special needs, has given me a deeper understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning. That perspective influences my work as a garden/farm educator and community leader, where I strive to create hands-on learning experiences that are accessible, engaging, and welcoming to everyone.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love reading and learning new things. I’m the type of person who will try almost anything once—from gardening and farming to painting and carpentry. I enjoy challenging myself, being creative, and discovering new skills. There’s always something fun to learn.

What is your most treasured accomplishment?

My most treasured accomplishment is building a legacy my children can grow into. I’ve worked hard to create opportunities that allow my family to learn valuable skills, give back, earn income, and become more self-sufficient. Whether through business, farming, or education, my goal has always been to teach my children things that can serve them long after I’m gone. Knowing that what I’m building today can benefit future generations is something I am incredibly proud of.

What do you do to treat yourself?
I enjoy spending quiet time in my garden, watching things grow, and taking moments to slow down and appreciate the progress I’ve made. I also enjoy getting away with my family and celebrating life’s small wins.

What is one thing you cannot do without?
My faith, family, and sense of purpose. They are the foundation of everything I do and keep me motivated to continue serving others.

As temperatures rise, staying hydrated is one of the simplest ways to support energy, focus, mood, and overall wellbeing. Keep a reusable water bottle nearby, enjoy water-rich foods like watermelon and cucumbers, and sip consistently throughout the day.

This month, challenge yourself to pair hydration with connection. Take a "walk and water" break with a coworker, start a hydration challenge, or share a favorite infused water recipe with your team!
